Aliza Sherman Risdahl

Aliza recently became a first-time mom at age 41 and quickly learned that nobody really told her what to expect as an older mom. After struggling with post partum depression and breastfeeding complications, she finally reached out to other moms only to find that most participating in mom's groups in her area were in their 20s. After speaking with Robin about this, she joined Motherhood Later to help take it national.

Also a work-at-home mom, Aliza is author of "PowerTools for Women in Business" and "The Everything Blogging Book." She works as a freelance writer, radio producer and Internet consultant. She founded the first women's Internet company, Cybergrrl, Inc., in New York City in 1995 and founded the first women's Internet organization, Webgrrls International that same year.she now lives in Alaska. Her work can be found at www.mediaegg.com.

Sang-Hee Lee

Sang-Hee became a first-time mom at age 40 in November 2007. Sang-Hee spent most of her adult life as a career-oriented professional.

"I am entering motherhood at the age of 40. This new chapter in my life gives me a rich mixture of emotions--excitement, mystery, and a sense of unpreparedness--that any new mother at any age would encounter. However, my perspectives and approach to motherhood as a middle-age woman who has spent some 20 years of her adulthood as a non-mother might be different from those in their 20s and early 30s. I want to meet other women who are also becoming first-time mothers later in life, share information, give
support to each other."

Sang-Hee runs the Los Angeles chapter of Motherhood Later... Contact her for more information.

Desiree Fernandez

"I am 35 years old and have a 2 1/2 year old and a 7 year old. I have been a stay at home Mom since 2001. I am active in my son's school, and love to be with family and friends. I look forward to meeting Mom's that are closer to my age and have similar interests. I have been married to a pretty great guy for 9 years and have a sweet little Shih-tzu named Spark."

Kathryn Rose

"I grew up in the central part of CT and then moved to Boston. I returned to Southern CT in 2004, with my husband and we had our first child, Lawrence “LJ” on November 16th, 2007. I am a 38 year old working mother and a sales professional covering New England for a financial services company. I would like to meet other moms in the area who can appreciate having children later in life and the challenges it represents. Motherhood is truly an amazing experience and it would be great to share these experiences with other moms."

Kathryn runs the Fairfield County, CT chapter of Motherhood Later. Contact her for more information.

Lizzie Morefield

"My name is Elizabeth, but I like to be called Lizzie. I’m 41 years old, married for 7 ½ years, and mom to 5-year-old Jimmy. If I had to describe my life I’d say that I’m blessed. I’m a child of adoption, and I’m not only a later-in-life mom, but grew up with a wonderful one of my own. I didn’t choose to be an older mom; my life just turned out that way. Not that I would change it because Jimmy is the light of my life; he brings me immeasurable joy! It’s a wonderful journey so far, and I look forward to more of the same for the future."
